I am dedicated to providing excellent patient care, conducting cutting edge research, and training the next generation of ophthalmologists. I first explored the scope of DES in a South Florida VA population and found that a significant proportion of South Florida veterans had DES, with men having an overall prevalence 12%.1 This was a noteworthy contribution as prior to this study, DES was not believed to be common in men.

Marilyn K. Glassberg, MD, FACP, FCCP is Professor of Medicine and Surgery, Director of the Interstitial and Rare Lung Disease Program and Director of the Pulmonary Division at the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. She is a Principal Investigator in the NIH-sponsored IPFnet. She is recognized as a forerunner in stem cell therapy applications in pulmonary disease with the publication of her recent paper.

Marjana Tomic-Canic, PhD, Professor of Dermatology

Her research received numerous recognitions, including WALS Lectureship by The National Institutes of Health in “recognition and appreciations of the outstanding scientific accomplishments” and was recently appointed a four-year term to The Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Health.
