Diversity and Inclusion at the Miller School of Medicine
Over the past few months, the Deans Diversity and Inclusion Council has been working carefully on a Diversity Statement for the Miller School of Medicine. We have reviewed statements from other schools, received input from multiple internal stakeholders, and our document was endorsed by the Faculty Council, as consistent with overall UM culture transformation.
The link to the statement is here.
At the core of our statement is the following:
“The University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine aims to be one of the premier academic institutions leading our nation in the diversity and inclusion of our workforce”
This document provides the detail and direction required by LCME, ACGME and other regulatory bodies, to guide individual units in our school, with diversity messaging and strategy.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion welcomes feedback from constituents, and our council intends to update this statement on a yearly basis. I am available to meet with individuals or groups – and chairs, center or unit directors – to assist with your unique Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts.
